Hello and welcome,
I’m Ian, it’s nice to meet you.
I started this website and blog to share our knowledge and experience of the great British outdoors, and travel lifestyle. I want to get you excited about what’s outside your front door wherever you live and help, support and inspire you to have adventures whilst sharing in ours!
We live in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Scotland
So, now’s your chance to join us and to get exclusive subscriber help and support, as well as bonus material and other goodies! If you want in, please just hit the subscribe button. I promise your email will be kept confidential and not used for anything else. Thank you. Ian
The Dreaded Substack Paywall…
Everything we publish is FREE (well, almost everything). We don’t like putting posts behind the Substack paywall! It feels wrong and disingenuous to do that, and that’s not who we are or what were trying to achieve!
When you subscribe (hopefully) and become a paid subscriber (hopefully!) it’s because you want to! Because you feel a connection, inspired and entertained! We promise to honour your trust and faith in us in every way we can!
Thank you!
The Great British Outdoors
Our passion truly lies in the outdoors. We simply can’t spend enough time outdoors exploring the wild and open places of Great Britain. Over the decades, we have developed a mountain (excuse the pun) of experience and knowledge that we want to share with you, as well as stories that could keep us talking for hours!
This is the sort of thing we do:
We have walked the length of the UK for charity, from the farthest north to the most southerly point and raised over £20000 for charity on the way.
Eve has been recognised as the youngest person to ever walk JOGLE.
Both Eve and I are the only people to have ‘thru-hiked’ all of Scotland’s Great Trails. This has been recognised by NatureScot.
We raised another (nearly) £10000 for charity.
What are we doing now… (just at a slower pace)
A complete round of every Munro, Corbet, Graham and Donald in Scotland.
Hopefully… we can also complete a full round of England and Wales Nuttals. (Nuttals are any mountain over 2000ft)
Hiking around the coast of Scotland eventually including the English and Welsh coastal paths as well. The whole of the UK!
Unofficial long-distance trails such as the Cape Wrath Trail and shorter trails such as hiking to the remotest pub in the UK!
The Big C
When Eve was younger she had a tumour. Days after Eve’s diagnosis Sarah also got diagnosed with cancer. I’m not going to dwell on this. Our Spectrum Adventures is a place of positivity and I want to keep it this way. Needless to say, this was a pivotal time in all our lives. It changed everything!
Home education
Eve is home-educated and has never been to school. This was one of the best parental decisions we have ever made. We talk about home education a lot! It has given us the freedom to follow Eve’s passions and tailor her education to her specific needs.
Our Autism
Both Eve and I are autistic. I was diagnosed as an adult and Eve was diagnosed at age 5. We represent two areas of neurodiversity that are underrepresented. Adult males and female children! Autism is not something we want to be defined by, but it has a profound effect every day of our lives. It does help a lot with our obsessions, the Great British Outdoors and adventure travel.
Oh… I’m also Dyslexic and love to write, blog and journal with my work being published!
If you got this far, thank you. Genuinely… thank you!
