Privacy Page

On this page I will tell you exactly what information we collect, how we collect it and what we do with it.

Why do we have a privacy page?

I want you to know exactly what we do on this website, how we do it and most importantly how it affects you. After many hours of writing, I have tried to answer these questions, being as open and honest as I can, using a question-and-answer style that I hope increases its usability and readability. I hope that this can also increase trust between us.

Do you update your privacy page?

Yes. This page is dynamic and I will be reviewing it and updating it as needed. If I change anything more than just the wording, spelling, or grammar I will let you know through a newsletter or update.

Who is the primary contact, author and editor?

I (Ian Alderman) am the primary contact and author on the website and newsletter as well as the various social media accounts we have and other outlets that we use.

References to 'I' 'me' 'myself' and 'Ian' refer directly to myself, Ian Alderman.
References to 'Sarah' refer directly to my wife, Sarah Alderman
References to 'we' or 'us' refer directly to both Sarah and Ian Alderman

The administrators are Ian and Sarah. Administrators have access to all functions and moderation tools of the website.

I am the primary administrator, with Sarah being a secondary administrator

I (Ian Alderman) accept full responsibility for the content of our website and other outlets, including our social media accounts.

Who provides the website and email functions?

We use just three services for our website and email newsletters.

1) Ghost Pro

Ghost is our website and Pro is hosting and newsletter email service provided by Ghost. Collectively they are known as Ghost Pro. Let me give you an example, if Ghost Pro was your home, Ghost is the building and Ghost Pro is the land and the utilities connected to it! You can read more about Ghost Pro on their website at https://ghost.org/

2) Stripe

Stripe is an online payment processor. Stripe is used to process payments when you join a paid tier subscription. Stripe is the only payment processor that works with Ghost Pro so that is why we use it. You can read more about Stripe on their website here https://stripe.com/

3) iCloud

iCloud is what we use for our emails when you contact us. This is not part of the website, but for the sake of transparency, I wanted to tell you. When you email us, we receive your email and reply from our iPhones, allowing us to respond when we are not at home. You can read more about iCloud on their website here https://www.icloud.com/

What personal information do you collect?

We do not collect any personal or identifiable information about you whatsoever, including when you move around the website.

However, when you subscribe and become a member, we have to collect up to two pieces of information from you:
1. your email address
2. your name

If you subscribe to a paid tier we will also then have access, through Stripe to the following:
1. your name
2. your email address
3. payment card type (Visa, Mastercard etc)
4. payment card expiry date
5. payment card last 4 digits.

There is no other personal information that we have access to and we cannot charge your payment method for any additional products or services.

Your address

On occasions, we like to send members gifts. To receive these gifts we obviously require a postal address to send them to. It is up to you if you would like to receive these gifts and therefore tell us your address.

If you do choose to send us your address we will store it in your account 'notes' section which is part of the website CMS. The notes section can only be accessed by an administrator. It will not appear in your portal account.

Do you have any website analytics?

No!
I have however considered it because I would like to know how people interact with the website. If we do ever implement analytics on the website it will not personally identify you and I will also tell you immediately!

We can see basic information within Ghost Pro, these include;
1. when you last visited and logged into the website
2. if a post was delivered and subsequently opened
3. any links in the newsletter that have been clicked

How is my personal information used?

Your personal information is only used for what it was intended for at the time of subscribing

If you subscribe to the website your name and email is needed to give you access to restricted posts and also send posts to you via email.

Do you share my personal information?

No! The only people that have access to your information are Sarah and I

How do I request, update or delete my personal data?

You can log into your website account and delete, change or update your details as well as adjust your membership tier.

You can also email us and request that we manually delete your details from the website (and Stripe).

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What about websites you link to?

We link to third-party websites throughout the website and consequently also in the newsletters that we deliver. We have no control over these websites, their content, privacy or cookie policy. Please be fully aware of this before using any link to a third-party website.

Using these links is entirely at your own risk. Please do not use them if you are concerned or unsure about their safety or suitability

I have a question, what should I do?
