It's been an exciting and surreal day.
We spent the day getting ready to start our epic hike tomorrow. 1900 miles, 29 different trails and a whole year of hiking and backpacking await.
We will be crisscrossing Scotland from coast to mountain, and back again. We can't wait!
Eve has been on an emotinsl rollercoaster all day, from over-excitement to sadness at the thought of missing Brownies! It's been an emotional day.
The emotional side has been made worse by Sarah being at work all day. Sarah arriving home felt like Christmas, when all the family comes together for a brief time, and at that moment rejoice in the feeling that all is good in the world.
We have packed, showered, re-subscribed to Apple Music and completed too many small jobs to list.
The bags are ready, filled with extra layers of warm clothes, emergency supplies of Kendal mint cake and far too much food.
The first trail we are going to tackle is the Great Trossachs Path, starting in Callander and finishing on the banks on Loch Lomond at Inversnaid. It weaves its way through Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, past hills and lochs with history and nature all around!
It's going to be hard, but also so rewarding!
Eve knows what we are doing and what we are about to undertake. But does she really understand the magnitude of what we are about to do? I don't know. But in all honestly, I don't think I do!
Obviously, as we did last year on our JOGLE, Eve has a veto. If she says 'NO' and wants to stop, then that is exactly what we will do. Eve is in no way under any expectation or pressure to continue or complete this challenge, but I have little doubt, that like last year, she will be the one to carry us to the end!
Sarah is currently sitting beside me seeing an 'Our Spectrum Adventures' patch onto Eve's bag. We tried gluing it, but it didn't work at all!
We glued a patch onto my backpack a few hours ago so I hope it has worked! We will find out tomorrow.
By the way, we still have patches for sale, so if you want one just drop us a message.
I think that's enough writing for one evening. Tomorrow I will be doing a lot more writing again!
Have a great evening and keep warm, its freezing outside.
See you tomorrow.
Ian, Sarah and Eve
